chicken pox in DTD2's privates

Poor lamb, 5 year old DTD has succummed to chicken pox, this afternoon. She's got a very itchy vagina, and I had a look tonight and it's peppered with the wretched spotty pox. I dabbed some calomine lotion on, but has anyone else had this with kids? Does Dr need to give us anything? Am worried about scabbing over there and extra irritation. Her twin bro got the pox a fortnight ago and didn't suffer at all.

Quite normal, DD had this when she had chicken pox. We found Poxclin soothing and she has no scars or lasting marks.

Clare, ouch, your poor DD!

Calamine lotion, oatmeal (inside a popsock to avoid great mess) in a tepid bath, Piriton can all be soothing.

If it gets worse and she finds peeing really painful, get her to wee in the bath or while pouring warm water over her bits. Also see Gp, they may consider prescribing antiviral medication (Aciclovir) for this kind of thing.

Hope she gets better soon.

My daughter had chicken pox there as well and was very itchy there , i was told to use a bit of thrush cream to ease it and tepid bath

Thank you all, will try everything and I think take to Dr. Oatmeal sounds vg. It's the kind of thing you wish you could get there instead of them isn't it.

My DD1 had spots everywhere when she had chicken pox. In her genitals, her bottom, her ears, everywhere.

I put bicarb of soda in her bath and encouraged her to wee in the bath to reduce the sting. I find calamine is too drying and makes them more itchy, so just avoid creams down below and give regular paracetamol, ibuprofen and Piriton.
