Would someone care to decide if DS has tummy bug or appendix issues?

Thursday afternoon / night: tummy pains (as in lying on the floor crying because his tummy hurt)
Friday: pale and clearly 'poorly', slight fever, tummy pains and headache receded with nurofen. Went to GP, GP said viral or possibly the beginning of appendicitis but 'wait and see'
Friday (midnight): projectile vomiting followed by 'runny poos' and intermittent tummy pains - at one point he said his 'hip' hurt and pointed at lower left abdomen. Before and since he has always said that the pain is centered on his tummy button.
Saturday: tired but otherwise fine
Sunday: fine, eating as normal
Monday 2am: tummy pains, runny poos, intermittently throughout the rest of the night.
Now: pale but otherwise OK.

so, given that I am sleep-deprived and not thinking straight, I am leaving it to MN to decide if I should take him back to the GP or not.

Here is a ist of symptoms for appendicitis.
Hope this helps.

The abdominal pain usuallyoccurs suddenly, often causing a person to wake up at night
occurs before other symptoms
begins near the belly button and then moves lower and to the right
is new and unlike any pain felt before
gets worse in a matter of hours
gets worse when moving around, taking deep breaths, coughing, or sneezing
Other symptoms of appendicitis may include

loss of appetite
nausea
vomiting
constipation or diarrhea
inability to pass gas
a low-grade fever that follows other symptoms
abdominal swelling
the feeling that passing stool will relieve discomfort
Symptoms vary and can mimic other sources of abdominal pain, including

intestinal obstruction
inflammatory bowel disease
pelvic inflammatory disease and other gynecological disorders
intestinal adhesions
constipation

If he is OK now then I would leave it for now.

Thanks - that is exactly why I am dithering - he fits that list, except that it seems to come and go - but as DH helpfully points out (he is not sleep deprived ) all DS's symptoms also fit a viral tummy bug.

X-post - I was answering Lou.

Thanks for consensus. I will leave it and continue to hope it goes away! It must be bad pain as DS is the deepest sleeper known to mankind and it has been waking him up lots. He is not rolling around screaming now though, he is playing wii games (and was running around and playing happily for hours yesterday!)

If today he is fine but pale he is probably getting better. So I would probably just keep watching him and if he gets ill again or is still not right tomorrow then go back. But I would also say you know your son best and if you not happy go back. I had a horrible experience a couple of years ago, ds1 was very poorly, I instantly knew something was wrong. In the space of three days he was seen by 5 docotors who all spoke to me like a piece of crap who was wasting thier time and told me it was viral. Part of the problem was that every time we went to the docotors he picked up a bit because it was exciting with new toys etc. But I had never seen him like that before, and I wasnt deceived when he picked up a bit. I finally took him to a and e who said it was either viral or appendix and to wait and see. We went home and he got bad again so we went back. They finally diagnosed pneumonia and pleural effussion and he was in hospital for a week. They said the xray showed there was so much fluid under his lungs pressing on his tummy he must of been in agony . Im not saying your son has any thing serious, but you know him best if it doesnt seem like how he normally reacts to a tummy bug or it just doesnt seem right then go back. Hope he ok. Sorry for waffling on.

Thanks - it is out of character, but every time I get really worried (worried enough to try and over-ride DH's "He's fine, stop fussing") he picks up again and demands food/TV/wii .
