Yes! My twins had it for ages and it was only Canesten that cured it. You can buy it off prescription-just check the age recommendation or talk to your GP first.

Apparently the rash can take a long time to go even with cream.

Unfortunatly yes i do, I had it in October and it's re-appeared in the same spot again recently. It didn't seem to be shifting at all but I've started putting the cream on and covering the patch with a dressing. This seems to really be helping and it has faded considerably. I'm applyiong the cream about 3 times a day now too.

Yes the cream takes ages and ages to have effect. Ds2 had it in his nappy area. Because thats generally a damp area it took about 2 months to completely go. We gave him tons of nappy free time but you have to keep the area really dry.
Its a fungal infection so you have to 'work' at killing the infection, it doesn't just go suddenly.
Doc gave us clotrimazole cream. (its the same active ingredient as canesten) I thought at first it wasn't working but the hv said you really have to stick with it.
A couple of times dp and I both thought the other had done it, and didn't apply it twice a day for a couple of days it started to get worse again quite quickly.
Ringworm is a stubborn bugger!

Just out of intrest do any of you have pets? , i have a dog but he has no signs of having it.

We had a cat but I don't think she was anything to do with it - neither of us or ds1 ever got it.
I did keep all ds2's bedding, clothes, towells etc separate from everyone elses and washed them very hot. I can't remember if that was on medical advice to kill any of the fungus that might transfer to fabrics, but it made me feel a lot better for doing it!
My first post on mumsnet was 'Help! My baby's got ringworm' and I got lovely posts saying that its nothing to be ashamed of its just another little infection that our darling children pick up!
