My two year old had it last week and although she was covered she only got a temp morning and night and never itched because I gave her piriton from the first spot. Now my 6 year old has it and she gets a raging temp all day if i dont rotate calpol and nurofen, I'm also giving her piriton 4-6 hours but she is itching like mad. We had no sleep last night, she has it all over and in her vagina and is in alot pain. I sat her in a bath with a few drops of tea tree oil. I put some calomine lotion on a pantyliner and put it in her knickers but she didnt like the feeling.
Have you any ideas how I can ease this dicomfort for her. I feel so sorry for her and would appreciate any ideas you may have.
Thank you

I used some stuff called PoxClin I think from Boots for general itchyness, and gave piriton to my ds not 2 yet, who had it all over his bottom and willy. HTH

dd
Calamine cream
and a few baths my dd was 2 as well unfortunately she was still in nappies but at one stage I just let her sit on a towel as it was too sore with nappy on

And unfortunately had to ride it out, my sympathies cause dd was really sore

Sorry, you are already usung Piriton. I use an anti itch cream on my DD for her excema called Eurax, maybe ask the pharmacist if it would be suitable?

We used the PoxClin too - have a DS though and he loved having it put on his bits!

Bicarb in the bath may relieve the itch. Or tie some porridge oats in a muslin or something similar run a bath letting the water run through the oats.

Poor thing. That itch must be horrible.

Thanks will go to the pharmacist as soon as my sister comes.
i'll try the Calamine cream, i'm using the lotion at the moment. you can at least warm the cream in your hands.

I have vivid memories of this from when I had chickenpox aged 7. Really horrible. I used to scrunch up the fabric of my nightie and sort of stuff it between my legs, then pull it out (not quite up the vagina, if you see what I mean - not even sure I knew I had one at that age!) It was the only thing that relieved the itching. I even remember the nightie - it was pale blue and nylon (it was the late 70s, in my defence). Not sure it was even a good idea - you're not supposed to scratch the spots, are you? - but it did help at the time.
