Poor DD broke her arm today and tomorrow morning first thing she has to go back to hospital for an operation to manipulate it. I have been told nothing to eat or drink after 2am tomorrow but can she have calpol or ibuprofen after this time if she wakes up in pain?

can't see why not but I'm not a Dr- why not just ring the hospital to check
poor DD!

I'd have thought it would be fine - sensible even but am no medic.
You must be really worried about tomorrow, I hope it goes well.

I hope that your dd's op goes well, Meg - presumeably by now you are sitting on the ward waiting for her to go down to theatre.

Ds1 had to have a MUA (manipulation under anaesthetic) when he broke his wrist a couple of months ago, and he was well and happy enough on his return to the ward to order lunch from the food trolley on his way past - so within seconds of being back on the ward, he was sitting up, tucking into roast lamb, mash, roasties, sweetcorn and then trifle!! Of course I'd been tied to the ward all morning too, because I couldn't leave him alone and then when he went to theatre, I went back to the ward in order to be there when he got out, so all I'd had was a cup of herbal tea - so I was starving!!
