It just keeps coming back! Ds is now 9 and he's still getting a patch on his head. What am I doing wrong? He washes his hair twice a week, I sort it out once a month, I've had enough! He's not dirty. ARGH!!!! I don't know why!

Thankyou, he does itch alot and he also gets dry skin on his back and stomach so it sounds like this. I'll pop and get him some shampoo with Aloe vera in it tomorrow.

Many, many thanks.

Good luck.

I've used bio oil with great effect (did add it on a tip on here so hopefully it helped Alexw) ds was 6 and still getting it (and had tried EVERYTHING)

alexw · 18/03/2009 19:45

Yes, sagacious it was ur tip!! Thank you. ONe treatment and it was gone. Not seen again.

scrooged · 19/03/2009 18:51

I ended up buying some aloe vera shampoo (£7.00! ), I've also oiled his head and brushed it all out, I washed it for him last night to make sure it was washed correctly but now he looks like a greasy haired child! I can't win. I'll wash it again later.

I'll be going back for some Bio Oil.

literally rubbed bio oil onto bits and it came away there and then and no repeats...

scrooged · 20/03/2009 22:16

Hmmm. I may be going back to the health food shop tomorrow for some of this.

Scrooged try washing his hair every other day. My dd2 needs to be washed this often or she gets cradle cap. I think she is just a bit hot and sweaty when she sleeps.

scrooged · 20/03/2009 22:22

He does get sweaty, he's also got dry skin so it could both of these. Poor kid!

Oh and both kids had it when DH was in charge of hairwashing suspect a lack of proper washing and rinsing was to blame.

DH has now been educated in the art of proper hairwashing and no reoccurance yay!

scrooged · 20/03/2009 22:39

I've been allowing him to wash it himself as he's at the age where he doesn't want me to see him in the bath/getting changed. Oh well!

We used Nizoral shampoo when Ds3 had persistent cradle cap - did the trick.

My kids use the Forever Living Aloe Vera-Jojoba Shampoo.

It's a mild shampoo but is said to help control iritation from scalp conditions like cradle cap, eczema, psoriasis, sensitive and itchy scalps.

It's in a 296ml bottle and costs £11.95. Email me if you're interested to try it out.

I had recommended here Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo it worked fine for my boys . Really cleared it up quickly.

neolara · 21/03/2009 18:20

The thing that worked best for us was using normal shampoo, slapping on some conditioner and then combing their hair with a nitty gritty (anti-nit) comb. Worked brilliantly. The cradle cap came out without pulling any of the hair out. I only need to re-comb very occasionally.

HappyMummyOfOne · 21/03/2009 18:36

DS has always had cradle cap and no sign of it going. Did have something from docs that cleared it within a couple of days and it stayed away for a while. Just recently come back but hopefully have enough left over for another treatment.

MayorNaze · 21/03/2009 18:41

ditto the nit comb. condition scalp and then comb as if you owuld for nits. works lovely
