What might be wrong with my very itchy toddler?

I have a 14 month old son. I am not sure if there is something wrong. Normally when I go to change his nappy or get him dressed he gets very wriggly and starts scratching himself really badly (despite us keeping his nails as short as possible) and he gets red raw with it. He has now started itching through his clothes - not all the time but it is noticeable. I have changed washing powder/conditioner (to comfort pure) in case it is the powder but it does not seem to have made a difference (can anyone please suggest a better brand?). Might he be allergic to something? He has no rash or eczema etc but something is obviously up as he seems very uncomfortable and itchy. Thank you

stressed - is his skin rough to the touch. when dd2's excema starts to flare up the first sign is a roughness before it goes red and then flaky.

We use Persil Non-Bio washing powder + no conditioner. It's a bummer if it is the powder as you may need to rewash all his clothes.

You haven't got a diffrerent bubblebath? or started going to a different swimming pool? We use Halo n Horns or E45 bath stuff for dd2 as she has had some nasty reactions to bubblebath.

no not rough he has lovely soft skin buthe goesmad at it everytime he is naked and as I said when he os nit baked now ( though not as badly). He has been doing this for months and so far no excema. I think I bought the persil non bio washing liquid - is powder better? I have seen no improvement yet. No worries about washing all his clothes - that won't take too long really. No different bubble bath but will switch to E45 just to be on safe side.

stressed - it might be worth getting some E45 or diprobase cream to rub in after bathtime.

I don't think the Persil liquid is any different to the powder. Hopefully the poor chap will be fine soon.

Could be prickly heat / heat rash?

When my kids have a rash, itch, iritated skin, prickly heat or scrapes, I would use a product called Forever Living Aloe Vera First. This would usually soothe and calm the skin and is ideal for children. Best thing to have in the first aid kit. They cost £13.78.

Email me if you're interested to try them.
