Hi,

Ds2 has very bad nappy rash at the moment with little blisters appearing. we have used metanium and caneston (sp?) to no avail and are not at a loss as to how to help him as these normally work wonders. Its so painful for him, does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks

hiya, my little girl sometimes gets this, we found the best thing for it was Bepanthen, when we wipe her with baby wipes, we dab her dry with tissue and then put a really really thick layer on, usually after a day it calms right down, we also do the same with Sudocream but Bepanthen works quicker. We found that when we used Caneston it was too strng and made it worse.
Hope this helps, sorry he's feeling sore

Hi missmapp, You haven't changed nappy brands at all recently have you. I just ask as my little girl got a nasty rash after I tried some with aloe vera in them.

missmapp · 15/03/2009 19:57

No, gybegirl, we are still using the same brand. He often gets bad nappy rash when he is teething, but this is the wirst and its not responding to our mormal tricks

Best bet is to leave his nappy off as much as you can to dry it out. The best thing I used on ds's bum was Boots zinc and caster oli cream, it worked really well.

Thanks , will try to go nappy free, lets hope the fine weather lasts- we've just had the carpets cleaned

My DD had what I would have described as nappy rash....little blisters.....just wouldn't go......took her to doctors and it was Thrush....quite common apparently!
Hope it clears soon.

If there are blisters it could be a secondary bacterial (staph) infection, which will need antibiotic cream. take him to see your friendly GP if not settling.

My DD2 had this, and I left it ages before seeing my GP, using bepanthen and canesten. I thought it might scar, it was so bad, but it didn't.

If it is blistering I would see GP. It might be thrush (although you say canestan was agering it).

Interestingly when my DDs was angered by canestan it turned out to be a bacterial infection which needed an AB cream anyway.

SMS, but the same advice!!!

DTD2's staph infection was tiny little blisters a it happens. I think they went a bit green too (although I don't think they were green to start with).
