Have tried putting them on cotton wool pads and wiping her eyes but suspect not enough is getting into the eye this way.

Any foolproof(ish) ways to do it?

We had this problem with DS1 when he was about 18mos. He had quite persistent conjunctivitis. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic ointment (can't remember the name) instead of drops. It was only twice a day and much easier. It might be worth asking about alternatives to drops

How desperate are you to get eye drops in?

My mum chased my sister around the house, caught her in a blanket, rolled her in it and sat on her prising open her eye and putting the drops in forcibly

I was going to ditto Aitch.

DD3 had this when she was tiny and I was told that it is self limiting. No ABs unlesee no improvement by day 5. Since then i have just treated by bathing in cooled boiled water and it has generally be fine (except I now have stubborn conjunctivitis).

If you do want to perservere with Abs - swaddle in a towel/sheet so arms are pinned by side. And as has been said doesn't matter if eyes are clsed - just make them blink 4 times to "make the eyedrops go away" - and they will distribute over the surface of the eye

just to confirm that dd2's untreated conjunctivitis has gone as of today... day 5.

My GP actually said to me it would be best to try and do it when both parent were around, so he obviously expected us to need some kind of pin em down method

Not had too much success but my childminder has These aren't anti-biotic (don't think?) just over-the-counter ones.

Oops. Lazy mother. Well, she's neither really had them or not had them so, um, will see what happens. Eyes very gummy for 4th day in a row though this am
