Permanent Tooth erupted behind baby incisor in very nearly 5 yo girl... any experience?

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and give me some idea of what the dentist might say/do. I'm assuming I should take her to see the dentist asap? Our next scheduled appointment isn't until July.

She had all her baby teeth before she was 18 months, so quite early, but was a bit shocked when she showed me this new tooth growing through this morning. She is 5 in 2 weeks. Her baby teeth are showing no signs of being wobbly yet - but the new tooth is displaced quite far behind them so probably not pushing them out (also looks so much bigger than her baby teeth!)

Thanks for any reassurance/advice!

DD is a bit older but she had 1 adult incisor at the bottom and the second one came up behind the other baby tooth but the baby tooth stayed in for another 2 or 3 months , it eventually came out and the adult tooth has moved forward now in line with the other one.

Thank you - it's good to know that it can move forward to be inline with the other teeth when it is ready to!

My DD had the new tooth behind the baby tooth, but they are all in line now.

All DTDs have come throughbehind the existing ones. They move into place when the baby one falls out.

when this happens there is apparently a slightly higer chance that they will need orthodontic treatement (braces for example) but they won't do anything about that until all adult teeth are through.

all my DSs adult teeth were fully grown before his baby teeth fell out! They eventually pushed the baby teeth out with no problems and straightened up quite nicely. We only had a small issue with one of DSs baby teeth which showed no signs of falling out despite being wobbly, the dentist had to give this tooth a helping hand to come out but i still think this was more of a practical and comsmetic thing rather than a problem!

Thanks all. On further inspection the baby tooth is wobbly! Great excitment from dd but I am quite sad that my 4 yo is growing up so quickly!

I wouldn't rush to the dentist. My eldest had his adult teeth come up behind before his baby teeth were out and it was fine.

DD is 5.7 and has lost 2 teeth this month and it is earlier than her brother so seemed young. She looks so cute.
