We've just had this at home over the past week and luckily for us it was over in a couple of days.

I'd say lots of easy to eat food like ice cream etc as they can get sore throats with it to. As long as they aren't getting dehydrated it should all be over soon.

We made DD and DS mock beds on the sofa to watch tv and keep them relaxing and comfy. Tried to get them to doze during the day.

There isn't much to do apart from make sure they don't scratch and keep comfy. I think you're doing what you can already.

During the night we did let them into our bed, not both at the same time, so they could get comfort from us and everyone get sleep.

Hope it's all over soon for you.

sounds like you are covering all the basics there - pain relief and temp reducing meds, water for hydration and there is not much else you can do. Food is less important and I tend to let them make requests if under the weather and mine are off their food.

I have a DD who often develops a rash with a cold/under the weather. Her sister vomits when unwell, she develops a rash! Each time I worry a little that the rash is possibly different, each time I pore over google images and wonder about various options: slapped cheek/roseola/you name it. However, I am slowly coming to the acceptance that labelling each virus is not that important as they all seem to need the same set of treatments depending on accomp symptoms. Naturally, if she is more unwell than the average viral infection, the GP would want to find out precisely for further treatment. However, usually I don?t think it matters too much.

Try a tepid bath if she is feeling miserable and hot. It can really relax and calm them down at the same time as reducing the temp. Just a change of location and a bit of easy fun splashing in the bath can boost them a little.
