Singulair was destroying my son!

He has been on it since January 20th. He does not have allergies or asthma. His ENT wanted him to take it for his sinus infections. Everything was fine for a few weeks then BAM all of a sudden was peeing every 5 minutes. My potty trained 3 year old is now on 100% diapers all the time. OK...so we deal with this and await his urologist appointment.

During this time we are noticing behavioral issues...he is acting out and not listening and has become VERY FEARFUL...of EVERYTHING. To the point where he speechless and shaking.

Then comes last Wednesday...BAM....can't stop blinking his eyes. It started out as a once in while thing....then to CONSTANTLY...ALL DAY LONG like yesterday.

Yesterday, I was sitting at my desk worrying and googled Singulair and blinking....HOLY CRAP the stuff that came up!! Frequent urination, blinking tics, fearful...all these behavioral problems!!! I called the ENT and they told me to stop giving it to him IMMEDIATELY!!! He was having bad side effects to the medication. He will be better in a few days.

I didn't give it to him last night and I already noticed a decreased in the blinking this morning.

I just have to Thank God for making me Google that!

I was very glad when dd's allergist recommended stopping Singulair. I was deeply unconvinced that she needed it, or that it was working, and the potential side-effects were very frightening. Fortunately she didn't have any side-effects.

Am sorry yoru son had a bad reaction, on the other side if it wasnt for singulair for Dd1[3.2yrs] she would still be in hospital once a month with her asthma. Suppose its like any medication some people will have reactions some people it will help immensly

Nemo - I completely agree! I am so glad it works for your DD.
