'scuse typing - have dd2 on lap.

dd2 is 2.

she has been unwell since sunday - vomiting bug, but seemed ok, thought it was a 24hr thing - she was sick in the nigh, then a couple more times in the day. perked up late afternoon, had some banana. was drinking well.

yesterday, she ate nothing all day. drinking well untill lunchtime, but then refusing fluids. ended up taking her to a+e (we just moved house, haven't registered with doc yet)

she had a temp of 39.4 ([blush} our thermomweter is out of batteries), threw up again while we were there. doc thinks viral bug, can't do much except keep her comfy, calpol etc and get fluids into her.

she is much the same this morning (doc said she should improve within 12 hours)

has had a cup of rice milk, and kept down. just gave her a dose of nurofen, and she brought that up within 20 mins. was not all her milk though, just a couple of mouthfulls.

so, what to do? should i give her some calpol, and see if she keepsw that down? she is still hot, but don't know temp (no thermometer). will sip fluids, but still not eating.

sorry for essay

I would wait a while and then give calpol. Dont give any more nurofen yet as you dont know how much she absorbed. Keep going with the sipping of fluids.

thanks, yes, willnot give more nurofen until due time-wise.

am just a bit worried she is not keeping meds down - she was sick yesterday at the hospital after having calpol.

I think they would have liked ot keep us a bit longer to see how she responded to the meds temp-wise, but I had dd1 with me too - dd1 is autistic, and was Not Happy about being in the hospital, and even less happy about her sister being upset so they let us go as dd1 was so distressed.

willgive her some calpol in a bit (willbe about an hour since the nurofen) and see how that goes.

Just had a thought too. Might be a good idea if you could get paracetamol suppositries. Ideal for when they cant keep anything down.
