Molluscum sufferers- have found a brilliant cream

Ds has had molluscum for about a month now, and it had rapidly got worse I don't think it helps that the main affected area is under his arm and his trunk, where it must get rubbed and sore. It looked red raw last week. I took him to Neals Yard and got a big bottle of chamomile and aloe vera body lotion and it has made the world of difference. The spots are obviously still there but his skin is nice and soft again. Smells yummy too. Might be worth a try for somebody?

Oh, thanks for this, I was told it is a really rare condition by my doc, and poor DS has it on his back. I've been using Hydromol that is prescribed for his excema.

I'll have a look at that cream now. I just gt excited that someone else had actually heard of the 'rash'!

I had never heard of it either but I was told it was really common?! I think people just don't talk about it iyswim. My mum and another good friend are nursery nurses and have been for years and neither of them have heard of it either, but my doctor and HV both said that it was relatively common.

molluscum is common. The way to get rid of it is to sratch the blisters, once it's infected their immune system will realise it's there and fight it off. The virus is normally undetected by the immune system. My dd scratched hers (she has excema so I think it was very itchy) and it had come & gone within 6 weeks her best friend (who she probably caught it off) had it for 3 years.

Also you can pass it onto to different parts of your own body and then each areas will need to get infected before they will go IYSWIM.

My GP told me it was very common too. Thankfully my DD recovered very quickly - either through application of EA 8 hour cream, being in a hot climate for a couple of weeks and in & out of the sea, a trip to the homeopath on our return, a combination of the three, or none of those and they just cleared up on their own accord. Bloody horrible things though (am glad DD had hers at such a young age, so she won't get embarrassed/teased about it when older)

Yes Rindercella, I am at least grateful that ds is too young to really be embarassed about them. The cream has made the skin a lot less angry looking though. I can only dream of a nice hot holiday, but if anyone wants me to tag along with them....
