Hi
DS1, 22 mnths has been off colour all week, had high temp on monday (had to fetch him from nursery) but no other obvious symptoms, GP said maybe a UTI, but we have not managed to get a wee sample yet! seemed a bit better on tues, sent him back to nursery on wednesday and thursday - he seemed much better. Then on thursday he had some red spots on his face - just three or four near his mouth and nursery said it could be hand foot and mouth, to keep an eye out for any more. He had some more on friday, below his nose and around moth, but only a handful and none on hands or feet. Had to fetch him home again on friday because he had another temp. He has been REALLY out of sorts today, crying lots, clingy and very tired - so floppy, but think he is so tired. spots still around mouth but nowhere else. He has refused to eat tonight but ate breakfast and lunch. Seems to have really gone down hill late afternoon. He does have quite a stuffy nose, but not a runny one so not sure if its a cold.
Wouldn't normally fuss over soemthing like this but he seems so unlike himself, especially the floppy sleepiness. Could it still be hand, foot and mouth but with just spots on face?

My ds got hfm with only 2 blisters near his thumb.

HFM does occur without the hand and foot so it could be that.

It could be other things though. Has he been in contact with anyone with a coldsore? The first coldsore infection is pretty nasty - typically with multiple sores in and around the mouth, very high temp and swollen glands in tummy which can cause tummy pain. My DD was so poorly she nearly ended up in hospital She was so listless and uninterested in anything.

The floppy sleepiness is concerning though - and irrespective of the cause shouldperhaps be checked out.

He doesn't have any in his mouth. He is not completely floppy, can still walk and sit up etc, just this evening around 5.30 he just wanted to lie on me and went to sleep, he never normally sleeps unless he is in his bed! He is asleep now, went out like a light, just worried its something worse. I know I am worrying over nothing! His temp is fine, he drank his milk fine. Maybe it is hFM. they don't look like cold sores.
