Quick "nits" question

dd1 is in reception. I fully appreciate that where there are groups of small children nits will probably gather.

Since September we have had 3 "nits" letters. This is to inform parents that there has been an "infestation" (the school's term, not mine) and giving parents advice.

The thing is, I don't think the advice is that good. We are advised to check the dcs, and to check them for the "next 2-3 weeks"

Imo we should be checking far more regularly than that, and constantly (i.e once or twice a week every week, and not just when there is an "infestation" (horrible word!)

Personally I make good use of a nitty gritty comb and try and tie her hair back which so far has seemed to work.

I am considering having a very low key word or e-mail to the head teacher suggesting that he changes the wording slightly on his letter. i.e. to recommend that parents check at least weekly every single week. Does this sound ok?

It sounds OK but is unrealistic. The majority of parents won't check unless they know there is a problem.

Thanks Hassled. I think I shall just continue with my own very frequent checking. At least that way I am likely to only fine one or two of the little creepy crawlies at an early stage before they start laying/hatching and whatever else they do!
