Molluscum (yes again) sore red skin

Sorry, I know this subject gets posted on a lot, but my DS has had some molluscum on his leg for about 5 months. Only a few white warty things, but the whole area is very red and angry -looking. It looks awful, almost like a burn. Not particularly painful but dry and red. Am putting oilatum on, not much improvement. Any tips? If not will have to go back to GP. PS I did 'squeeze' a couple of the molluscum things to get the core out, hope this hasn't done any lasting damage. The spots dried up once squeezed.

Tis quite common for the skin to go dry and scaly with molluscum. Squeezing is ok, and some do recommend it, but I've heard it sometimes scars. My DS wouldn't let me squeeze his, and he had loads, and they lasted ages (2 years!). I was always itching to squeeze!

I found oilatum really irritated my ds's skin. He has always had dry skin but he has had molluscum for a month now (he is 8 mo) and I haven't been using anything on it for fear of spreading or irritating it. The only thing that worked on his skin before the spots appeared was Lush's Dreamcream, and it might be worth popping in and asking for a free sample. It's horrible isn't it Ds's are along one arm and one side of his body but he has developed some spots around his mouth int he last few days which I hope are just from teething.

Have to admit I LOVE squeezing them, and virtually beg DS to let me. Mostly he won't, though. I do need to get out more...

oh I had this as an adult and had to get it burnt off by the nurse. As an adult I used Nelsons Tea Tree antiseptic cream and it was brilliant - but would check its ok for kids

My ds has it for about 18months and nothing seemed to make it better. It was worst when they were on his face and he kept catching them and so had to have plasters on his face all the time. 18 months later, all gone, no scars and I'd forgotten about how horrible it was untill I read this post!
Hope they go soon - DD had it too, much more mild, went more quickly
