Anyone know about bad fish?

Because DD (aged 2.5) was violently ill after eating fish and chips (while we were in Cornwall).

She seems to be OK now, but am convinced it was bad fish she ate as it was the only thing she had that was different from what everyone else had all day.

It was about 3 hours afterwards...

Isn't food poisoning about 6 hours after eating?

Not necessarily. Or she could have had an allergic reaction to the fist - some fish makes me puke violently so I have to be really careful what kind I eat

It could simply have been sitting around in rancid fat for too long, or been the one thing handled by someone who was not too hygienic. As long as she is OK now, don't stress too much, if she wasn't OK you would know.

Thanks - she was so sick, poor thing. Called Environmental Health and they said they would inspect, but that she could have a virus. Don't think it's a virus though...

Oh sorry to hear about your dd Ilovemydog ...

Just putting my tuppence-worth in because my sister works in industrial catering and says fish and chips are one of the safest takeaways to eat simply because of the massively high temperatures they are cooked in ...

so would definitely check out the allergy angle ...

Glad she is improving now though.

just so you know, food poisoning can take anywhere between 1 and 72 hours to kick in, depending on the offending organism. And it usually lasts a lot longer than just one bout of sickness.

I would also think it might have been an allergic reaction, OR that she just overdosed on rancid oil, which can easily be enought to make sensitive types puke, without any other encouragement!

Thanks - hadn't thought of the allergy angle -- I have a peanut allergy and she isn't supposed to have peas, and they served them there.

May get her tested....
