Baby still restless after last week's 16 wk jab - any advice please?

Hi!
My daughter had her 16 week injections last wednesday. She was pretty unhappy after the 8 and 12 week jabs and cried lots in the afternoon/evening, but nothing like after the 16 week one. Since last wednesday she has been a different baby. She screamed like I have never heard 5 hours after the jabs and since then we have had problems every evening. She won't sleep in her cot and just cries and cries until we pick her up and even then she is wimpering. She has ended up sleeping in bed with me since Sunday as she won't sleep in her cot. I don't know what to do. I am don't think she's in pain, though sometimes Calpol calms her. But I don't want to keep giving her calpol every evening. I just don't think that she wants to be on her own as she sleeps ok once she's in bed with me. It all started after the injections, so i can't help thinking that it is something to do with that. Has anyone else had a similar problem after their baby's injections? or any advice as to how I can get my daughter back into her cot?
Thank you
xx

Hi,

I have a 11month old girl and I remember that she used to do that kind of crying thing at that age too. I think that as long as you know that there is nothing actually wrong with her, and that she does not have temperature, I would keep putting her into her cot. Maybe stroke her forehead or sing a song but the main thing is that she knows that its safe to be there on her own. Otherwise she will learn that she can sleep in your bed everynight if she keeps crying. They are so cheeky sometimes!!! I hope that this helps or at least makes you feel better that others have experienced similar thing. Hope that she gets back to her cot soon.

Sorry Suvi I'm going to completely disagree with you. Sara, if your baby is upset and needs to be with you then by all means have her in your bed. She obviously feels safest with you - she's only 16 weeks old fgs! I don't have any experience of vaccines so I can't advise on that side of things but do whatever she needs for comfort now and keep an eye on her - you know her best and if you feel something is wrong then take her to your gp.

IMO it is more likely to be because she is 16wks and not because she's had jabs - they can have a huge growth spurt at this point and want to feed (or at least have food accessible nearby ) all the time.

she is not being 'cheeky' or 'trying it on', she wants to be close to you

please don't leave crying in the cot - we started co-sleeping at this age

agree that if you think something is wrong see the GP
