Blood on bib, do teeth coming through cause some bleeding?

DS is 5 months old this weekend and has been grizzling for the last few weeks which we think is teething, no sign of teeth yet though. Today there was some blood on his bib. Generally he is really well, feeding as usual and is good form. Does anyone know if teeth cutting through causes some bleeding?

Thanks

this is entirely possible. Have a feel with your clean finger on gum ridge top and bottom.

pop your finger in and rub along the gum, this will let you know if any teeth have broken the skin, they are very sharp so you should be able to feel them easily if they are there.

sometimes my DS wakes up with blood on his sheets this is usually due to his lip cracking during the night, because he is breathing through his mouth due to having a bit of a cold, otherwise it is because he has caught himself with a sharp nail and given himself a small knick in the skin of his face.

Never noticed any bleeding with the normal course of teething, but when DD was teething she bit down really hard on her teether toy and made her gum bleed.

If the tooth hasn't cut through the gum yet, I wouldn't imagine there would be any blood.

Thanks. I'll have another check to see if anything has come through and keep a wee eye on things.

My sisters DD's gums used to pour blood on the moment the tooth actually 'cut' through the gum. She literally would have a mouthful of blood. Sounds like a tooth cutting to me.
