DS is 11 m and seems to be a magnet for every bug going. Three since christmas. Twice recently, he's had a rash all over his torso and thighs, and the last time it was so vivid and nasty-looking, I thought he had The Pox! Now he's just got over yet another nasty, and yet again he has these red spots-becoming-blotches all over his tummy. They don't bother him, although last time his whole torso went lobster red and warm to touch. We've been told that some immune systems throw this up at the end of a virus, but none of the other babies we know ever seem to get this.

Just wondering how common it was, really. Straw poll?

Ds has had a virla rash a few times. I think some kids are just more prone tothem than others.

Yes, DS had has a post-viral rash and we thought he had chicken pox too. Dragged him to out of hours surgery and doc said he was otherwise OK. The rash was gone the next day after we put aloe vera gel on it

Dd is generally very healthy. However, the couple of times she's been ill recently, it's been followed by a post viral rash.

I have 4 boys and DS1, 3 and 4 nearly alwyas get a post viral rash. DS3 had a really nasty one last month, it got really sore an itchy around hid lower tummy and groin. I think beacuse he wets the bed still the urine irritated the rtash.

It always seems worse when they get out the bath but settles after a day or two.

my children used to get mysterious rashes regularly.

DD always gets a bout of urticaria when she is ill, seems to come hand in hand with her immune system kicking in.

Google urticaria and have a look at the rash, it might be that. I would post a link but I don't know how to.

DD seems to always get post viral rashes and we have even been to hospital in the middle of the night as out of hours doc thought she might have meningitis even though she was actualy quite perky. It turned out to be a mystery and she was fine but very scary night spent in childrens ward.

I call NHS24 first and they usually refer us to out of hours doc, i then don't feel so bad wasting a docs time when its nothing - it ALWAYS happens at a weekend!

I took my 10mo DD to the Drs yesterday and he said her rash was 'a post viral rash'. She was a bit unwell at the weekend - runny nose, slight temperature. The rash seems to have come and gone a bit but today is worse than ever. It is all over her face and trunk. It doesn't seem to be bothering her that much (not itchy) but she is still a bit cranky. DS (4yo) had odd rashes a few times but I don't remember them lasting more than a day or 2. I'm worried now that it could be german measles.
