Ibupforen seems to work well on my ds when he has an earache, more so than paracetamol. You could also try a hot water bottle on the bad ear (with a cover on of course) - it's quite soothing.

I don't envy her - earache is awful.

DanJARMouse · 16/02/2009 21:02

ignore me then.....

oooh x-posts! THANK YOU!

DD1 has just about fallen asleep again but she is very restless.... i havent got any ibuprofen in, unusual for me.

Bugger. Will try the heat thing - will a wheat pack do the same thing?

Deffo try heat I used to suffer from earache as a kid and a hot water bottle with a pillow case wrapped round gave great relief.

Ledodgy · 16/02/2009 21:10

Wheat pack good also as it's safer.

bodiddly · 16/02/2009 21:15

my mum used to wrap the hot water bottle/wheat pack in a silky scarf for me when I was little and it was much better than a fluffy/furry cover!

DanJARMouse · 16/02/2009 21:17

Thanks guys. I think she is properly asleep now, but she is in MY bed! Not sure whether to leave her there or move her, poor little thing looks so vulnerable in my big bed.... i do love her a lot!

Will get the wheat pack out for if she wakes again.

Is it worth going to the docs or will it be a case of ride it out?

Definitely try the wheat pack. As Ledodgy said, it's probably better than a hot water bottle.

I hope she feels better soon. As least she's sleeping now. Does she have a temperature too? Does the ear smell? It may be an infection if so.

DanJARMouse · 16/02/2009 21:28

nope, no temp or smell or anything. A little red behind it.... might get her checked to be safe.

It's probably best to take her to be checked if it's still hurting tomorrow. They may just tell you to ride it out anyway, but at least you'll know it's nothing serious.

I'd leave her in your bed rather than disturbing her. Although I'm a big fan of co-sleeping so I would say that!

DanJARMouse · 16/02/2009 21:41

thanks coo - big help. DH has just moved her into her own bed, and she didnt even stir, poor little thing. Have given her an extra pillow to keep her more upright to allow anything nasty to drain away..... thats what NHS direct online says!

Here's praying for a not too disturbed night.
