I hope someone can help - my DTs (5) are styaing with my parents, DT2 has just been sent by their GP to the hospital for a chesdt x ray, query pneumonia...we are 100 miles away and trust my parents completely but if she is likely to be kept in I want to be there - any advice? thanks!

Hello! chest x-ray is an easy quick procedure, I am no expert but am assuming it's the GP who is going to look at the pictures to determine, in which case it will take a couple of days (guess it depends, when I took chest x-rays it was not for something urgent, maybe pneumonia is classed as more urgent?) Anyway, sorry I'm not much help! but the actual x-rays take 5 minutes max.

What medical history is there? How well is DT2?

DS was kept in with pnuemonia BUT he's a chronic asthmatic and he had a whole lung pnuemonia with a suspected cyst in his lung. His oxygen sats were stupidly low and he couldn't even stand.

I've known friends whose DCs have had it and have been treated at home.

DS's x-rays were checked at the hospital as GP suspected pnuemonia and sent us straight to emergency admissions.

Thanks for help last night and apologies fro garbled OP

All ok now - we got half way there and she was sent home having had clear x ray and throat swab, no ABs or anything other than calopol for her temp which I hadn't been aware of (it turns out my mum hadn't even given her any ) so we turned back and are now enjoying the second of a our 2 child free days

glad to hear she was fine, some gp's get chest x-rays just to be certain. mine is one of them i am asthmatic and any signs of prolonged coughs then off i go for a chest x-ray think he must have missed something serious on a patient in the past!!!

I have had a collapsed lung in past so hence why he is cautious also.
