Hoarse Voice - Should I be worried

DD woke this morning crying with a really hoarse voice.
I went on a Kids First Aid course on Saturday and am now worried she may have swallowed something, and it's stuck in her windpipe. She hasn't had a cold and no excessive coughing. I've checked all her clothes and dummies and they all seem fine - nothing missing. She's 5 months and not moving around much so in theory shouldn't have found much to swallow...???
Am I being over sensitive or should I get it checked?

I would get it checked - its probably just the start of a cold, but you will only worry so worth it to put your mind at rest

Actually just had a thought...
Her front 2 teeth have just come through. Would the extra saliva cause a hoarse voice?

I've not heard of voice being affected by teething, but I do remember dd1 sounding like Marlene Dietrich on 40 a day when she had croup...could be the start of any kind of cold virus, though.

Hope she's ok soon!

It sounds like the onset of croup, so I'd aree with Elibean. There's not alot you can do if it's mild. If she gets distressed and is barking then it's best to take her to A&E for steriods.

Has she has her whooping cough jab?

She's due the last jab for whooping cough next month... part of her 6 month jabs.
I think I'll make an appointment with the GP tomorrow. Just to check...

Thanks all
