why and emergency appointment?

I think RR meant an emergency appointment (ie same day) at your GPs. If it's a UTI, it can be very painful (often described as worse than childbirth) and progress up to the kidneys, and kidney infections are awful too. The nurse practitioner or GP will want a fresh sample of wee. If there is any blood in it they will prescribe anti-biotics.

have you had a look?

I now my dd would have died at that age rather than let me look

cutekids · 12/02/2009 13:30

Noooo! She wouldn't let me I don't think. She just said it "might be my hair that's there now".
I know that I sometimes get the same kind of thing if I get Thrush which is why I have Canesten in.I've told her to use it a couple of times but obviously I don't want her to over-use it either.

she needs an emergency gp appointment because it may not be thrush, it may be uti as rubyrioja says and she is 10. no canestan is not the right thing because if it isn't thrush it will only irritate her more and she is under 12 so ideally needs a dr prescription for it. In the meantime encourage her to rinse area with lukewarm water - not scrub though.
