Any idea about this?

I am in Italy, with dd aged 5...However, for 3 mths of the year I work in the UK- and consequently, dd has had some immunisations there- (meningitis for example) The doc's surgery called a few months back (I was in Italy at the time) and said she needed to go for pre-school boosters etc....I said she eould be having those in Italy, as that was where we currently were...

Doc's surgery has now called my Mum (where we stay when I'm there working) and say the Health Authority want written confirmation that these immunisations have been done in Italy......

Why would they want this? It's not even a legal requirement in the UK to have immunisations of any kind is it? So why should I have to give any kind of proof that they've been done? (they haven't yet- as the recall for MMR etc is done at 5 and a half here)

I'm not an expert but at a guess, it might be because the health authority has targetted the surgery to achieve some kind of minimum level of immunisation, and they are seeking to add you to their "done" list, but can't without documentation.

odd-they probably want to tick the boxes and some jobsworth has decided they don't believe you for some reason.
You don't need proof of anything as far as I know.
Ds never had the pre-school booster at all.

It's box-ticking. There is no legal requirement to have imms here in the UK.

The GP's surgery gets (I think) a bonus for having a certain % of registered patients vaccinated. Chasing you up is easier work (and more likely to succeed) than hassling someone who has decided not to vaccinate.

It does sound a bit like a box ticking excercise to me too.

It is box ticking.
The whole vaccination schedule is entirely voluntary. It is actually none oftheir business what you do.
My surgery recently wrote directlyto my 15 year old DS to ask him to come in for a flu jab.
they got the very short end of my arsey stick.
Tell them not to call you again

Thanks a lot everyone!
I read Pagwatch's post out to my Mum over the phone and told her to tell them that, but she wussed out.....she did speak to practice manager and told them as we know imms are voluntary in the UK they should stop hassling me, as actually, I have had them done FFS! The woman said it was a form from the NHS with the names of all the kids registered at the surgery and they "had" to confirm vaccs......pffft.

Thanks again!
