DD has a slight squint, what do I need to do now?

Hi all

I?ve noticed now that DD (almost 10 months) definitely has a slight squint, one eye looks inward a bit too much.

Do I need to do anything about it now or is it something for glasses/patches etc later? Is there still a possibility that it will go away at this age?

Thanks

Ask your HV for a referral to see an orthoptist. They will assess whether it is a squint or not (DS just looks like he does for instance), and then assess what needs to happen

DD had this and was referred to an orthoptist at about 2 years. I brought it up at her 9 month check but they weren't bothered about checking it until she was 2. It wasn't a real squint, just the way her eyes looked sometimes and now at 5yo her eyes are perfect.

ditto advice to get orthoptic referral

Not too young - dd had glasses at 10mths and patch a couple of months after that. Things can change v quickly at this age. DD's eyes much better now than they were.

We only did a bit of patching and all ok for now. May have to do some more at some point in the future

agree with everyone else about getting the orthoptist referral through now. I imagine if they do find a squint they would want to treat it asap.

Thanks all - will have to get on to it then!
