DS had one since Summer 2008, bought a home freezing kit over-the-counter but - after several treatments - the thing is still there. Anyone know of a treatment that works?

BANANA skin works wonders.

The ost effective treatment I have found is thus:

5-7days week of Bazooka/Seal and Heal/Salicylic acid based treatent was per instructions on packet. I find this first step non essential but makes the next bit quicker.

Then banana skin treatment as follows:
Cut a small amount of banana skin to cover the verucca. Tape it fleshy side down on the verucca with plasters or micropore tape. After 24hrs remove and wipe with a baby wipe. Replace with fresh banana skin. Repeat daily. Nothing will appear to happen for a few days and then suddenly the verucca appears to start seperating from the healthy skin. Eventually it will just drop off - literally. Normally takes a week or too.

Honestly banana skin is the best treatment I have found. I have treated small verucca's within 3 days. A well established verucca could take 2-3weeks. That is compared to 3m+ which is quoted for the Bazook type rteatments.

Thanks - applied the first banana skin this morning. DS thought it was hilarious!

If you wish to go a slightly less organic route (I didn't know about the banana skins, but will try them next time)...

After getting through 3 packs of the freeze stuff and applying seal/heal (I think DD always rubbed it off) I bought some Scholl verucca treatment.

They are diff sized salicylic circles which you apply then stick a patch over (I also put a plater over to keep them on) renew every few days. There is a bit of dead skin removal to do, but this has been the most effective mothod for us.

It;s a bit gross and medieval sounding, but when I had them as a child my mum used to cut them out with a very sharp pair of scissors. The verruca is no longer a part of your child's foot, and so it doesn't hurt (sharp scissirs ensure you only get the verruca)I can remember lying on my front while my mum went at it every night for a while.

Fraid I can't remember how long this took, but if all else fails, give it a go.

I am a massive fan of banana skins! They really do work, and leave the skin all lovely and soft too
