im posting a fresh thread to try and find anyone that has had similar probs or has some idea what may be wrong with my 10 week old ds2

he was born very snuffly/nasaly and snoring and i was told was mucous which i accepted. cut a v long story short, he was in hosp last week having tests done as he has reflux and on medication for it. he snores, stops breathing quite abit (apparantly nothing to worry about) he snores, is very almost congested and he snorts alot. he sleeps propped up but his snorting wakes him and seems to hurt. his chest ang lungs are clear and barium xray showed no barium was going on his lungs. he is now on goats milk formula due to dairy/soya intollerances and is under the paed stil. am going to hosp monday nut really want them to listen as something isnt right. alot of the time he struggles ro breath and he also makes a strange wheeze/squeak when he breathes out alot of the time.

any ideas?

Course you can't help it, you've just had a baby, and he's your baby, and something isn't clear yet.

dd also has very tiny nasal passages, and when she was under 6 months it did make a lot of difference, tbh....she outgrew that. Maybe the snuffling will get better with time, but the reflux isn't to do with that...why on earth did today's GP say 'no reflux'?!

Re reflux, it can and does get worse for a bit before getting better - so it is possible that your ds is getting more sicky now than a few weeks ago, but will start to get better again in the next couple of weeks. dd's was at its peak at about 10 weeks, I reckon, and substantially better (on meds, that is) by 14 weeks.

gp meant that these breathing probs werent caused by the reflux. i dnt undrestand how 5 diff gps all come up with various solutions to it i.e a cold, reflux, floppy larynx, small passages etc..

Hi mad4, sorry, was away for weekend. No, she did'nt do exactly that...but tbh, that doesn't mean much. How frustrating that the clinic was cancelled....I really, really hope tomorrow's clinic isn't cancelled, and that you get some reassurance/information/clarity.

I saw your post re the in-in-out breathing, very clear description - tell the paed exactly that, plus what you just told me (am sure you were going to anyway).

How is he in himself, otherwise? Does really sound as though he has some sort of ENT issues, though not necessarily dangerous for him, still sounds so important that you get to find out WHAT so you can get some peace of mind and reassurance....

btw, the cough half an hour after starting nap could be reflux related, no? Not necessarily, of course, but could be...
