DD2 had MMR on thursday, seemed fine. MOnday temp spiked at 39.8, screamming riggors ect. has temp still but developed rash on her legs today, so screaming and seems to have a horse/sore thoart. Is this all likely to be reaction to jabs? Shes not reacted to any other jabs and my dd1 was fine. tia

Bump, in case anyone can help, but I personally would call the doctor's or NHS direct.

Bump again

Hiya. My ds had a temp a few days later, he also got quite a nasty red rash up his leg that was hot to touch but was smooth iyswim. It did appear to be under the skin which I was told by the nurse would happen. I gave calpol and nurofen to ease the ache for a couple of days as his leg really swelled up too.
What colour is the rash?

peanuthead · 29/01/2009 09:20

sounds exactly like when my dd had her first mmr - high temp follwed by rash all over legs and chest. lasted about 2-3 days in total.

lisad123 · 29/01/2009 16:23

the rash has become worse and raised, also spread to arms and hands. Had a alwful night, screaming, and refusing to sleep. Off to GP today at 5pm

Oh dear. At least you know what it is now. The poor little love.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 30/01/2009 09:37

So is that as a result of the MMR? (My DS has his MMR on Monday and already has mild eczema, I didn't realize this could be a reaction ... worried)

HJope your LO feels better soon!

sI have officially flounced but I could not leave this post. Eczma is a well documented side effect of the MMR, if your child has developed eczma it means that your child has a auto-immnue disease and therefore the greatest care needs to be given should you decide to have any further vaccines. If I where you I would do some research into this as they will happily keep immunizing your child. My child also had a similar reaction. I can link you to the PDF file for the side effects of the MMRII made by Merck and co, if you ASK me to.

If your child already has eczma, then I would personally pospone the MMR until you know all the risks for a child with auto-immune problems. You can always give the jab later, BUT if you are not educated about the risks and something happens then you cant take it back.

It makes me weep that people think a child screaming all night is a normal reaction.
scraming brought on by vaccine induced encepahlitus is not normal.

I will check in later to see if anyone would like anymore info.

If others want to have a pop because they cant stand anyone saying anything bad about vaccines, dont bother because I will not read your posts.
