My poor baby, 18m, is absolutely covered in blisters and not sleeping and utterly miserable.
It's really horrible to see him like this.

Was anyone else a bit horrified even though it's apparently a good thing he's got it now and not later?

You do still need to keep an eye- sd1 was fine with it but ds3 was little (10 eeks) vand needed watching and ds2 needed anti b's for infected spots around his napy.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/01/2009 12:19

I can't say mine were ill when they had it but ds2 and dd were covered from head to foot (and every orifice ) in spots and I have to confess, I found it hard to look at them. The thought that occurred to me that helped me at the time was what it must have been like in days of yore when the spots were caused by smallpox and there was the threat of death or extensive scarring. Hopefully, your little one will be better and scar free in a couple of weeks (better a lot sooner than that obviously, but you need to give the spots time to go away afterwards).

he's very sore in his groin and very greatful for a bare bum covered in calamine cream.
he just lay there enjoying the air at him i think.
he's gone for a nap finally, but might have more to do with the piriton i gave him.

would a bath be a good idea? i thought a cool bath would be soothing.

Poor thing - have you tried Piriton? Really calmed down dd's spots (and also made her a bit drowsy, so helped her sleep). And Eurax cream, to further help relieve the itching?

It'll all be over in a few days....

DragonLowFatSpread · 27/01/2009 12:23

thanks scarletlilybug, the pharmacist recommended piriton, but it didn't help him sleep last night. he slept for about an hour.

he's probably going to sleep all afternoon now isn't he then be up all night again.

remind me again, how long the spots are there for?

NayNayAndThriceNay · 28/01/2009 19:54

I know what you mean dragonlowfatspread. My DD is 15 months old and is covered head to toe in spots. So far she's still herself but I'm sure the itchyness is not that far away. Good luck and hope your wee one gets better soon.

Jossiejump · 28/01/2009 20:30

medised is good (although now it says not for children under 2, although my doctor has pooh pohhed that and said to give my son 2.5ml as the old bottles used to say!

whoingodsnameami · 28/01/2009 20:34

DS came down with chicken pots the day after I had dts, he was just under 3, by day 3 he was so bad, open wounds all over especially in the groin area, I discharged myself againsed the hospitals wishes (I had an emergency section, and dts were 7 weeks early) to be home with him, he was so tired, he came upto me, put his head on my lap and fell asleep stood up

whoingodsnameami · 28/01/2009 20:34

pox.....not tots

Waxonwaxoffdanielsan · 28/01/2009 21:21

i've namechanged mid thread. dragonbutter here.

one good thing has come of this. he's learnt a new word.

SPOTS or bots as he points at his tummy.

well, two sleepless nights even though he'd had piriton in to this, we've decided to give the piriton a miss tonight and see if he sleeps any better.
