She has had a sore throat since yesterfay, so made an oppointment with gp today at 4.30, on the way to gps dt tells me she thinks there is a silver thing in her throat, she cant tell me what it is but had put something in her mouth, and since then her throat hurts, she does'nt think its in her belly, she still thinks its in her throat, gp has checked, he said there is no infection and no swelling of tonsils or glands, he told me to take her to a&e for xray, so am waiting now for someone to come and sit with other dc

Hope there is nothing stuck in there.

If there is something stuck in her throat, how will they get it out?

Heinlick? local anisthetic and tweezers? sorry I'm not a Dr, so not really much idea, I did once have an endoscope (telescopic camera) shoved up my nose to look down my throat as a kid (not a nice experience) but that was due to my neck spasming and me being unable to open my mouth (my dh would say that'd be a godsend now )

Oh how worrying. Good luck.

4 hours at A&E, it turns out dt2 has tonsilitis, not sure how the gp missed that one, I think maybe she had swollowed something she knows should not have been in her mouth, just as the infection was starting and thought she had it stuck in her throat, but no sign of anything there, thank god.

Do watch her though, I am about to have bronchoscopy to fish out something I accidently inhaled (and felt it fall down the windpipe) - and it's not even emergency - A&E declined to do anything(?!?)
I actually feel it inside when I move(urgh) and have a wheezy cough.

If she subsequently has a wheezy cough, then re-visit. The consultant believed my story more than x-ray (food matter sometimes wouldn't show) and he also told me about various things he fished out in the past - like duvet popper, peanut, prawn shell.

The item can block small air tubes and could lead to infection and/or part of a lung can collapse w/o air.

or maybe she simply swallowed the silver thing - it would then come out (and it wouldn't from the windpipe)

Phew for it possibly only being tonsilitis, would it be worth complaining to the GP about them missing it, as you had to go severely out of your way because of it.
