I have just phoned to make Ds appt for his 3rd lot of jabs, and been told there are no appts till 25th Feb.
He will be 5 months old by then, is it really ok to wait?

yes in my non expert opinion

PlainOldPeachy · 23/01/2009 16:13

Yes it should be fine, happens a lot- eg if baby ahs a cold on teh day.

The reverse (jabs earlier than suggested) however is not OK.

CandleQueen · 23/01/2009 16:13

Yes.
Apparently it doesn't really matter when they do the jabs, they are just scheduled X weeks apart so it's easy to remember.
My drs surgery mucked up registering DS2 so he's had all his jabs about 3-4 weeks late. It makes no difference.

PrettyCandles · 23/01/2009 16:14

Yes, it's fine. None of mine have had their jabs at precisely the 'correct' time, several occasions the jabs were delayed on the doctor's advice.

yes - my DS has just had his third lot today, and he is a week off 5 months.

SlightlyMadScotland · 23/01/2009 16:16

Yes. it will be fine - the gap should be aminimum really.

izzybiz · 23/01/2009 16:20

Hello Prettycandles! We have similar names!
How are you "candle - related"?

nowwearefour · 23/01/2009 16:28

i think happens a lot and better then than later or not at all!

tots2ten · 23/01/2009 16:38

ds2 just had his 2nd jabs which i think are given at 3mths, (he is 8mths now )

Sycamoretree · 23/01/2009 16:49

YES! Some of DS's were months late . It's only important that they are not given too early, or not far enough spaced apart, IYSWIM.

Northernlurker · 23/01/2009 16:50

This is what we did for dd3 because we were on holiday at 4 months. It will be fine.

psychomum5 · 23/01/2009 17:24

yes, it is fine.

with my three youngest they each started their jabs later than suggested, and also I booked for them to have 8wks between each jab too........simply because my DD2 had immune difiancies and both her HIB vaccine and MMR did not take and nor her tetinus (sp?0 part of her triple.

there was no proof that doing the jabs later would make a difference, nor giving the gaps, but for my peace of mind, I wanted to wait and the docs/HV were happy to let me. Not least because they knew I wasn;t saying *"NO!", just saying "bear with me" IYGWIM.

Other countries do them 2 months apart as standard. Ours are quite close together so they can be done before maternity leave ends.
