He comes down with it about once a fortnight, he is'nt sick and does'nt get the runs, but he gets a fever each time and loses his appetite, he struggles to stand and is unsteady on his feet, no-one else in the house comes down with it so I cant see that its a virus, any ideas, am starting to worry now? Its happened every couple of weeks for arounf 2 months now.

Also he has been very clingy lately, always wanting cuddles and insists on holding my hand when out and about, which is great, really great, but out of character for him due to ASD, am wondering if something is bothering him, and the tummy aches are due to anxiety.

Sorry Whoin godsname
prob of no use but any time dd has unexplained tummy ache
the doc always asks me am I sure shes not constipated or worms are common in her age

PlumBumMum · 21/01/2009 12:05

Is there a pattern to the tummy ache?

whoingodsnameami · 21/01/2009 12:08

It happens around once a fortnight, actually it has just accured to me that this started since he had mild gasteronetiritis (sp) possible connection? Am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with his bowel movements, he is not toilet trained yet, also due to his ASD, so I know every bowel movement, and he is regular. He is almost 8 by the way

apparently this tummy ache is going round and is a leftover symptom of all the colds and bugs. my dd has had it, i have had it.
something to do with the glands in the stomach.??

or

does it happen after certain foods? they are doing food intolerance of this morning atm. might be worth looking at the website.

PlumBumMum · 21/01/2009 12:16

My dd same age, mild gastro might have upset his tummy,
or he enjoyed that extra bit of mummy time and associates that with tummy ache

My dd has had experience of both of the docs diagnosis unfortenately but sometimes shes just want abit of extra attention, even though I think she gets more than the other two

whoingodsnameami · 21/01/2009 12:16

Oh god, I so hope he does'nt have a food intolerance, he only eats a small variety of food, he is extremely fussy and refuses point blank to try new food

Light bulb moment

piratecat right tummy bug going around that lingers for ages should have remembered as we all had it from christmas until not long ago!
Sorry
Told you I might not help

whoingodsnameami · 21/01/2009 12:18

I dont think its an attention thing to be honest, he really looks in alot of pain, it comes and goes in waves, at the moment he is playing happily with fridge magnets, but he could be crippled in pain again any minute now, so I opologise if I dont reply straight away.

Dd1 (AS) gets tummy ache if she is upset about anything (if there is a change in her routine which she doesn't like). Could it be trapped wind? (which could be caused by a food intolerance).

PlumBumMum · 21/01/2009 12:21

Oh If really that sore I would bring him to gp,
I'm def going to do some housework now so hope you get it sorted

whoingodsnameami · 21/01/2009 12:25

sounds like mesenteric adenits, my daughter has similar. Can be triggered by a tummy bug.
