You are within your rights to ask any mamber of staff to clean their hands before touching him, there will possibly be a gel pump at the end of the bed.

You caould remind the staff politely that he hasn't had his jabs yet, tell them you are concerned I'm sure they will be extra helpful.

Don't let anyone near him without seeing them clean their hands. Keep the curtain around the bed to prevent being coughed on. Take Milton wipes and wipe everything around him.

The wards are full of babies with bronchiolitis at the moment

Just wanted to wish you luck tomorrow, hope it goes well and you get some answers.

Re infection, dd was in at 4 weeks, for a week, and I worried too (though she already had RSV): use hand gel automatically every time you go near him, and make sure everyone else does too.

As for RSV bronchiolitis, all babies with it should be isolated, or if they arei n the majority on the ward your ds will be isolated from them. Its actually easier to protect a baby than a toddler (as I just found out) because you can keep them in their own room, and/or their own bed, so the risks of infection from anything other than dirty hands is minimal.
