My youngest is having his Rubella jab tomorrow

He seems well so no need to cancel.

He is 3yr 7 months.

I am really nervous about it.

DH says the measles jabs is the main one to worry about wrt to a reaction. Is that true?

Is Calpol better afterwards (help with the pain of the needle if has it first?)

How long do I need to watch him for a reaction for and what am I looking out for?

His brother reacted badly to previous jabs so I am a bit neurotic worried.

TIA.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure but I think you normally get a reaction within a few days but can be up to 2 weeks, you really should discuss everything with the GP/nurse if you have any worries at all. My two DSs both had the jabs and were absolutely fine, didn't need any Calpol. I don't think the needle is really that bad, it's more of a shock than anything - usually the "I was brave" sticker does the trick! My only advice is to sit your DS on your lap and hold his arm firmly - if they jerk when the needle goes in it can be painful. Hope it goes well!

All three of mine reacted to the measles jab but not the rubella one. I always calpol afterwards but give some sweets immediately afterwards to distract them

Good luck

Will take choc buttons.

DH says it will be in his leg.

Last time I started asking questions as I wanted reassurance I was worried they wouldn't then do the jab.
