Im a bit upset TBH.

I mean I know its visable and on her face but we don't see it as an issue (especially DH who is very protective and defensive about it) and he said this to the HV.

In a way I would like to go because we don't know if it even IS a birthmark yet and if it is what kind it is. I would like to know whats likely to happen in the future regarding fading/getting darker etc... but the thought of seeing a specialist makes me feel like its something 'wrong' with her and we want to 'get rid of it' which isn't the case.

I mean Id rather it wasn't there for her sake but it makes no odds to us she is our gorgeous little princess.

Im just getting pissed off with it being mentioned EVERYtime we meet a new healthcare person and having to go through it with people asking whats that mark on her face.

Shes only 3 weeks old FFS!

Am getting upset now

Disenchanted, I don't know if this will help, but we found ourselves in a similar situation with DD when she was a few weeks old, and it was very worrying as we did not know what the mark was and initially our DR wasn't sure.

my DD is 21 months now, when she was 4 weeks she got a tiny mark on her lip (looked like a little redd blood blister) which grew until she was about six months. It was bumpy and raised and looked sore, but never seemed to bother her.

Our GP referred us to the local hospital and we were then referred to Gt Ormand St. He identified it as a hemangioma and said that they normally fade ande ventually disappear by about 6 or 7 years of age.

He wants to check it every few years and said he would consider laser surgery if it wasn't fading or was causing discomfort.
It started to fade when she was around one, it is now far less prominent and has changed colour to a pale pink/pearl. Her pic is on my profile if you want to see, its not too noticable.

My main reservations about laser surgery were that she would need a number of treatments and general anesthetics. It seems to be going on its own accord now and its so much a part of her I never even notice it.
