runny nappies for about 3 weeks, not sure if we should go to the doctor

DS, 2.5, has had pretty runny dirty nappies for about 3 weeks. They haven't increased in frequency, and I wouldn't call them diarrhoea, but I'm starting to worry about it a bit. Thinking about taking him to the doctor, but I know he'll scream the place down and I'm not sure if I want to put us through it for not much. I wouldn't worry so much, but he's already pretty skinny and the health visitor has us in her (evil) sights over it. He does eat, or as much as any two-year old does from what I can gather. The only change in his diet that I can pinpoint is an increase in chocolate consumption over the Christmas period. Am wondering if this might have a laxative effect. Didn't give him any yesterday, but doesn't seem to have made a difference yet. I know you guys aren't doctors (well, statistically, some of you must be!), but I'm wondering if others have experienced similar and how long you'd let it go on. Ta.

Too much chocolate definitely affects my dd's nappies. They're always a bit on the creamy (TMI, sorry) side.

do they smell vile? cut out dairy and very slowly re-introduce it via cheese, then yoghurt, then milk. no chocolate.good luck.
