anyone know if you can catch chicken pox by being in a room where a child with chicken pox WAS

but now isnt? is it airborne or can you catch it from fabrics etc? or is it through direct contact with the child?

You can't catch it like that! It's direct contact with the scabs, not airborne.

It is airborne. I guess it would depend how long the child had been out of the room.

Sorry definitely airborne. A friend's ds caught it from my ds and they weren't even in the same room.

My children have just had it - my doctor told me that it would need actual contact, the example he gave was approx 10mins face-to-face conversation. I guess the equivalent for a toddler is playing in fairly close poximity for a fair amount of time. So I would say no, they can't get it from a room where it was.
