Just wondering, could sticky-outy-teeth cause eating problems?

DS is nearly 10 and will be fitted with a brace when he's older, he has a pronounced overbite (overbite?...is that right?).

Despite constant reminders he still often eats with his mouth open and it's causing a lot of friction between him and DP (who thinks it's laziness). Could his teeth be the problem, or is he just a bit slow when it comes to manners at the table?

My dh has an overbite (but was never allowed braces as a child )

He often chews with his mouth slightly open (but not in a way to make you retch or anything). He finds it harder to close his lips... his teeth are in the way!

Aha, thanks mrsm,so it could be a problem perhaps.

Sad that your dh wasn't allowed braces.

Yeah. His Dad never wanted to admit there was anything 'imperfect' about his son.

My dd has them now, huge train tracks bless her. And her Grandad still says 'What d'you want braces for? You've got lovely teeth!'

It's also making me a bit sad googling, it would seem it can cause difficulty with chewing.

My dh seems not be able to breathe properly when he puts a lot of food in his mouth. He 'mouth breathes' a lot (weirdo)

Anyone else please?
