Have seen it a few times now. Bright red streaks in it. Looks like the colour of blood.
It has just happened again today. I can't think off hand of anything that he has eaten that could be bright red.
No traces of blood when I wiped his bottom at all.
Could it be blood? What would that mean?
I don't want to be rushing him to the Dr's for any invasive tests when I'm not really sure if its blood or not iyswim. But on the otherhand I don't want to ignore it if it could be something that needs looking into...
He is 3yo.

What do you think?

is his poo hard?
has he been straining recently?

Is he constipated? I had this with DS3 yesterday, not clots of blood, but almost a blood stained mucous on the stool. He was terribly constipated and I have put it down to that. No blood on wipe when I cleaned him up so it must have come from inside IYSWIM. If it were to happen again I think I might go to see the GP

No, he's not constipated at all.
He's pretty clockwork, goes most days and its usually on the softer side rather than being hard so no straining.

It does look like blood stained mucous, yes.

ring gp in the morning, even just for some advice
hope he is well soon

I'd phone the GP just for some reassurance really, I think I might mention the DS3 incident next time I am at the surgery.

DS (23m) has had this happen a couple of times - the first time there was a lot of it and it really worried me so I called NHS direct who sent me up to A&E to get him checked out. I took the nappy with me and they had a look and said it was constipation and to just make sure he got more fluids and fruit as that would help.

He's had it today but less noticeably and I know he didn't drink much the last couple of days, so although I haven't seen him straining particularly I assume it is down to constipation.

Definitely worth seeing the doctor to have your mind put at rest though, if you're very worried.
