DD is 2.7 and is saying she has sore teeth. Looking at her mouth she does have some red gums. Not registered with a dentist, do you think I could take her to the doctor or do you know what I could give her apart from calpol?

Thanks for your help

The doctor will tell you to go to a dentist. They should have a list of dentists in the area who are taking on new patients. Ring your GPs and ask them these things, Tell them your daughter is in pain. Do it now before ythey shut.

Also is there a dental hospital near you? They sometimes have a dental walk in service. Find out and give her calpol.

go to a dentist - obviously

Have called the doctors and they are getting one of the GPs to call me back. She also had a throat infection last week so might be a follow on from that. Thanks MT for your help

it is just so ridiculous that it is so hard to get a dentist these days

NSS, do you know that private practices often take on children as NHS patients?

NoShitSherlock · 02/01/2009 16:58

Ah I didn't know that. Will look into it tomorrow. Hopefully the Dr will beable to do something today. Waiting on a call back at the moment

Do you have a dental hospital where you are?
Doctors arent trained or qualified to deal with dental problems, you need a dentist.

My dentist is private and sees my DD as an NHS patient, though they only do this for the children of their patients.

Dental hospital is about 14 miles away and we have no car.

try NHS direct they should have a number for the emergency dentist and keep giving her the calpol. ashamed to say my daughter had 2 teeth removed at the emergency dentist as we could not find a dentist to take us, but you can go on a list and now we have a regular NHS dentist

dinny · 02/01/2009 17:56

our local practice sees children as NHS even if parents aren't patients

hope she is better soon, NSS

Thanks all, turns out she has an infection and got some anti biotics. The only trouble now is trying to get it down her as it is rank

Good luck Sherlock. Is it the banana smelling stuff? We put it on ice cream. It says they need it on an empty stomach but the doc said him having it with some food was prefereble to him not having it at all, or not finishibg the dose.

NoShitSherlock · 03/01/2009 06:34

Its the strawberry one. Thats good to know, thanks MT. I mixed it with a little calpol this morning and she took it no problem, where as last night we had to hold her dow
