DD is 7.5mths. She had a virus and has a cough. We went back to the dr after 6 days of coughing and it is a bit chesty and she is on antibiotics. She had a couple of miserable days but since Monday, apart from the coughing, is very happy and fine.

I have been taking her out in her buggy. She is wrapped up really warm with a hat and blankets pulled up so only her nose and mouth are showing when she is lying flat. She sleeps really well in her buggy and has needed lots of sleep.

I think it is a)good for her to get out and have fresh air and b)get some sleep.

My MIL is driving me mad every day saying I should not take her out the house.

What do you think?

Utterly stupid woman. Fresh air will do her good rather than cooping her up. Just make sure she is nice and warm, wrapped up well and don't stop out too long.

OUT, OUT, OUT

Does you and her the world of good.

The fresh air will make her feel so much better. Ignore your MIL.

Out, you have her well wrapped up, she'll be fine, fresh air is good

When DS had a chest infection and ABs and ended up in A and E, v.nice experienced oldish paed said it was fine for him to go out in the fresh air - that the cold might make him cough a bit more, but not to worry.

Pudding, my DS had RSV which gave him bronchiolitis at just 2.5 weeks old. He was hospitalised, tube fed and oxygen tubes up his nose. It was awful. When being discharged (he was still very snuffly and had a cough) I asked if I should keep him in and was told no, a daily, short walk would do him good as long as he's wrapped up. This was just 5 weeks ago when it was really cold. He's fine now and the fresh air help clear his nose and chest as well as helping him sleep well. MIL should chat to a nurse / GP - they will all advise getting out for a short while.

Good luck!!

Thanks littlesaint. Hope your DS is feeling better now. That must have been scary.
