I normally use Sudo cream on my DS bottom but saw a product called Zinco Spray which looked much easier to use yesterday. Total nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has reacted to it and is red red red all over his bottom so much so he won't sit on it and goes mad when you change his nappy.......even worse he has loose teething nappies and needs more changes at the moment.

I have covered him in sudo cream and given him medised (thinging the antihystermine (sp ?) might help). What else can I do!!??

Could you leave his nappy off for a while?

Bath him with few drops lavender oil/tea tree in the water

He is now asleep but will try in the morning, he has an unset tummy though! Feel terrible for him!!!! Will the sudo make it worse, normally fine with it??

Have you got any metanium? This was the only thing that ever worked for nappy rash for me. You can put it on and then put a layer of sudocrem over the top and it should clear it up if it's regular nappy rash. Would maybe give some calpol if he seems to be in pain (or antihystamine if it makes him sleep a bit better?). If it's an allergic reaction you might need some hydrocortisone, but you'd need the doc for that.

Oh yes metanium, I'll second that. If her has an upset tummy it will be irritating it too. If he's not crawling set him on a changing mat with his bum uncovered.

Sorry this isn't nappy rash, its an ALLERGIC REACTION to the nappy rash cream.

Just found some Piriton in the kitchen. Can I give him this if I have just given him 5ml Medised?

Try a cool bath with bicarbonate of soda in it.

I would give him some antihistamine for the redness/burning/itching. It would also be a good idea to use a more natural product for his bum for the next few days, something like Weleda Nappy Change Cream.

Get an emergency Doc's appointment tomorrow - my dd had an allergic reaction to something like that and sudo creme/zinc cream did naff all. We were given a prescription for canesten and it cleared up really really quickly.

Can I get canesten over the counter?

Maybe, but I think there are different strengths (might be wrong).

Thanks Fimbo just read link. Is it really for allergic reactions though.......sounds more like really bad nappy rash......or is that the same thing??

My ds was red raw/nearly bleeding and it worked for him. (not sure entirely what it was but he had never had nappy rash before) It cleared in 24hrs and previously he was screaming at every nappy change.

Phone NHS direct for local chemists (some may be open for an hour or so).
