DS2 was ill with sickness and diarrhoea about 3 weeks ago; he was sick every evening/night for about 3/4 days, but was fine during the day inbetween bouts of sickness.

He has been off his food for about 3 weeks since he was ill - the doctor checked him just after (as his diarrhoea never really cleared up) and said it was probably just a bug.

He now seems to have another case of sickness which only occurs at bedtime/during the night. He was sick on Thurs/Fri/Sun and tonight, but has been been fine in the day except today when he has been really whiney and tired.

I am going to take him back to the doctors tomorrow if I can get an appointment, but wondered if anyone had any similar experiences? Or do you think this is just another bug?

Hello, sorry to hear your ds has been soon poorly. DD was very sick for 3 months this time last year and in feb was diagnosed with reflux. By september I got her off the reflux meds, however, if she has a tummy bug for at least a week after she is lactose intolerant and vomits on the nightime feed only. I give her infant gavisgon to try to keep the milk down and take her off all dairy for a week.

It is so strange, like your DS she is only sick at night. Apparently this can be very common after a tummy bug, also the bug can live in the lower gut for ages and cause upset tums randomly for a while afterwards.

Good luck, hope ds is well soon. Xx

Ask the doctor if he might have an hiatus hernia.

This is almost always undiagnosed in childhood, and can lead to adult discomfort and eventual cancer of the oesphopagus.

GPs are crap at this sort of thing. I think the symptons are worrying, tbh.

You don't say how old he is?

Oh! Hey! Let's check the OP

He's 17 months!!

Ask the question, and try not to be too easily fobbed off. It sounds like a hernia to me.

Thanks for your responses (suprised anyone bothered ). I am genuinely concerned that it may be something more than a bug as DS2 has always been such a big food fan and seems totally fine between the vomiting episodes.

Hopefully I can get a doc appt tomo - will see what he/she thinks
