is it true it takes 72 hours to get in their system? MW told me this. So surely if ds had awful wind after feed just stopping infacol, it cant be down to him not having infacol??

not sure but it is more effective if you use it consistently with every feed

hi ruby, just asking coz have been using it since birth and have just started using ranitidine for silent reflux (youve posted to me on my thread) just not sure if it is helping so havt used for last2 feeds and 1st he was fine but last feed at 1.30 he is very windy and cant get it out...

My DD had ranitidine and were told to continue with the infacol as the ranitidine helps keep the milk down and can inface make the wind worse... we ended up using infacol before the milk and dentinox in her milk while seh was on ranitidine to help with the wind!

good luck - it does get easier!

You have problably tried but just a thought - have you tried colief before/in the milk - this effectively removes the lactose, this often helps with the silent reflux, saying that the colief made my dd really sick (but apparently works for most), but once she was on a lactose free milk the silent reflux did get a lot better - still needed the meds but improved the wind too! now not on the meds at all and still on the SMA LF (can order from pharmacy if want to try it) as she had an undiagnosed lactose intollerance! the dietian at the hospital said it seems quite common in reflux babies to have an intolerance to lactose, most do grow out of it by a year! - just thought might be worth trying the colief as one of the theories on colic is that is is caused by a lactose intolerance which makes them very windy! among other things!
sorry such a ramble!

good luck

when my DS went on to ranitadine i stopped the infacol - can't rememeber why but you can use them together if you need to

he is on neocate so no lactose. ds1 is allergic to dairy plus soya and ds2 was showing same signs so went on nutraigen but no huge improvement but better on neocate. not great though. Im praying the ranitadine will help. he has had it for 24 hours now...

its just so hard work with a 2 yr old demanding attention and then a poorley 3 week old! I never get anything done and getting out of the house is a mare! I know ranitadine has to be increased on weight. he weighed 8lb 10 at the time and is having 0.26. any idea anyone how often this should be reviewed? Ds1 ended up on domperidone and omeparzole and no one told us it had to be increased with weight and it obviously wasnt working after a while and had go back to paed and he was like well it wont work hes not having enough!
