DD (5.5) wetting the bed - could there be a medical reason

DD1's been dry at night for over 2 years, but the last 2 weeks she's wet maybe 8 or 9 times.

Now I know she's obviously tired and excited but are there any medical reasons why she might be wetting and should I get her checked out?

Thanks

urinary tract infection?

This was a key sign when my door 8 year old ds wet the bed a couple of months ago. He was obviously SO upset.

I would get to your GP asap. Unfortunately when we went ,the usual 'dip' test didn't show any signs of infection. We didn't get lab tests back for a week. It cleared up as soon as he got the antibiotics.

Could also be worms if she is at school

Take along a sample of urine to your GP to test for a urine infection.

Any other symptoms that you could link in? temp, pain, discomfort etc? Has she got a sore throat or mild cold - drinking more at night? perhaps room hot and so more to drink?

How does she react? Is she upset or suprised by it? Does she wake and then come through to tell you or are you discovering it in the morning? If waking but too late, it could be an indicator that she has lost a little control, or if not waking at all, perhaps sleeping too soundly?

Could she be constipated? My dd (and ds2) used to wet more when they were constipated.

Thanks for your help - I've had a doctor's appt and they're sending off a sample.

I have no idea when she poos, but will keep an eye on it!

sometimes she comes in, sometimes I find it in the morning and she doesn't seem to be drinking more.
