he has been miserable and under the weather the last few days saying he had tummy ache but still happy - with a little nudge - to go to school.

Tonight he has been sick big style every 30-45 minutes we have been through 4 duvets and pillows and pj's and he is now in our bed. DH and I are taking it in turns to sit with him hoping we will be able to get him to the toilet in time.

He is falling fast asleep in between vomiting.

we ahve bleached down the bath and toilet after each incident and are being very dilligent about hand washing. Any ideas if we can narrow it down?
Do we need to know what it is?

i dont know if you need to know. that is what i was told in the past.
all you need to do is keep him well hydrated and let it work its way through the system ...

Ivykaty44 · 16/12/2008 22:47

not FP,

Hope it gets better

Ice lolly's to keep him hydrated is what I have always been told by my gp. Gp said the e numbers are also good at perking them up along with the fact most dc love lollies - just the juice type ones, not the ice cream type ones.

OK more sick, caught by towels surrounding his head.
no high temp..
just had cooled boiled water.
anything else?

have you coke?
flat coke is recommended.

hope it gets better soon.

hellymelly · 16/12/2008 22:52

only positive thing I can say is that it should stop within 24 hours in my experience.as posted hydration is the only issue to worry about so keep fluid going in ! Hope he feels better soon.

Hand wash like crazy, wash everything (towels at high heat). Don't share towels. Keep away from other people for 48 hours from the last case ofd&v.

Horrible

well thanks for all your advice..
DS1 is feeling brighter this morning - I however have spent the night with D&V.

I'm stuck at home at the moment with my DD2 aged 3yrs and she was sick all night and had loads of runny poo...poor thing.
She has been asleep most of the day, watched a little bit of Cbeebies had some water and then just fell asleep after half and hour.
Shame really, as it was her pre-school xmas party this morning and my DD1 is going to a carol concert this afternoon with the whole school and i would have loved to have seen it
I'm just trying to get in touch with people who can collect DD1 after the concert as i don't really want to move her.
I'm hand washing like mad and disinfecting taps, light switches, handles, bleaching the toilet and just feeling like everything is dirty...yuck!

mrsnoname · 18/12/2008 13:54

I hope you feel better soon, it usually passes within a day or two.
However, I've just read an article in which the Health Protection Agency recommends that those stricken by the v&d bug should absolutely avoid preparing food until 48 hours after their symptoms have disappeared. Otherwise, you can expect to pass on this very nasty illness as a birthday present along with the cake you're preparing for those poor people .

Ripeberry · 18/12/2008 16:45

Could not contact anyone as they were all in the church and mobiles switched off. Poor little mite was so tired she kept slumping in the car seat. She is back in bed now after having a little bit of vomiting, not as much as before.
She is getting plenty of fluids.

oh just got back onto computer.

Ripeberry - sorry to hear your little one is so poorly. it is so hard when you can't make them better

Mrs noname - thanks for your message - I have been so worried about this cake.. in the end I called for reinforcements to come and do what I told them to do and I stayed very hands off. cake is still going to be claimed as my creation though

feeling a little better this evening, just having a piece of toast - first thing I have eaten since tuesday.
