I am exhausted, I have pretty much had at least one of my 3 children ill for the past 6 weeks.
6 weeks ago all 3 came down with gasteronetiritis, (sp?) and since then they have all picked up I think every bug doing the rounds, from colds to sore throoats and earaches, they are at the tail end of a flu like bug now and I hoped they would be back to health, but today after school dt1 asked to go straight to bed, that is unusual, and ds has just been sobbing with earache

I am in 2 minds of what to do tomorrow if they wake up feeling ok, I want to keep them off school now and start the xmas holiday early, as I dont want them picking anything else up and being poorly for christmas, also if something is still lingering in thier system I dont want them passing it on to the other children, but they have thier nativity tomorrow too and dts are looking forward to it, I know they will pretent they are ok even if they wake up feeling rough.

Is it possible the gasteronetiritis has weakened thier immune system?

Oh darling

It is so hard isn't it?

I would err on the side of keeping them home. But that is just me and earache

Can they go in just for the nativity tomorrow and then no more school?

How old are they?

Mine used to get ill over and over again, especially in the winter. In the end, I followed a friend's advice and gave them vitamin and mineral supplements and echinacea, and that seemed to boost their immune systems enough to stop them catching virus after virus.

And it's not that I was feeding them rubbish either - we have fresh fruit and veg, and I cook from scratch most of the time - I guess they just needed a bit extra - and it made me feel that I was doing something positive to help.

It's better than what my mum did when I was a teenager. I was having singing lessons, so it was important that I didn't get colds, so she used to make me gargle with dilute TCP each night - and following the instructions on the bottle, you drank the last teaspoonful![boaky green emoticon]

DTs are 5, so its thier first nativity, ds is 7, but he is not in the nativity because he is struggling with the changes, he has aspergers, in fact he is not enjoying this week at school at all, so I think I will keep him off, but if dt1 is a bit iffy tomorrow, dt2 wont enjoy being at school alone, I know that is something they will have to get used to, but I dont think I could make her go to school on her own and do the nativity, she will never forgive me besides I wont be able to go and watch if dt1 is poorly.

I sympathise - DS is onto his third illness in 3 weeks. Plus he had a little trip to A&E inbetween the first two illnesses! DH also had the vomiting virus for about 6 days last week.

Now waiting for me and DD to get it over christmas
