Do I need to take dd (8) to the doctors?

She was throwing up Sunday and had a temp. Wasn't sick anymore on Monday but started with a bit of a cough.

Went back to school on Tuesday and came home saying she felt poorly - very bad cough, sore throat. She had a bit of a temp that evening as well.

The cough seems to have got worse since then. She hasn't generally got a temp, but sometimes at night it rises a bit. She was coughing so much this morning she's been sick again.

I wouldn't normally go to the doctors for soemthing like this as just assumed its a bad cough and is taking longer than normal to shake it. Bu a friend has taken her dd with the same symptoms to the Dr and got antibiotics.

Am worried now that I'm useless mum.

I would wait a few days, dd1 and dd2 had it a few weeks ago, dd1 got over it after a few days, dd2 took 3 weeks to get over it, i took her to the GP but theyt wouldn't give her anything as its a virus, antibiotics are for infections. There seems to be alot of bugs around at the momment.

stripey half our school is off with it and we have all had it. I would sit it out and just use nurofen we all recovered within a few days
hope she feels better soon

Stripey you're not a usless mum
She has just got the same as the rest of our school, 14 out of 30 are off in my dd's classs!
How are you by the way? still working in 2 places?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 11/12/2008 14:25

Hi Flossie - how's your DD? Hope she's escaped the bug.

Can't believe that many are off. . I bet the nativity play was a smaller event than normal!

I'm just working at the nearest hospital now, I hated the other one and left. Have upped my hours to 3 days a week which I've decided is enough. Got a dog now so can't work any more days than that as need to be at home looking after her! Loads of people are off sick at work as well - only 3 workng on shift rather than 6 the other morning. Thankfully it was quiet! Would have been terrible if the ward had been full.

She is struggling on as she doesn't want to miss the play.
Her role is so important 4th pig from the right at the back
I thought I saw you with a dog the other day.
Maybe we can meet up for a coffee when all the festivities have calmed down.
